Why Certling Exists
I used to sell translation services to large financial institutions from a small office in Canterbury.
Once or twice a week, someone completely different would ring our bell. They weren’t a bank or a fund manager. They were someone trying to bring family to the UK, submit a visa application, or get into their dream university. They’d ask for a certified translation of a birth certificate, a school transcript, a marriage certificate - you name it.
What struck me wasn’t just how grateful people were when it all worked out. It was the stress. The pressure. The sense that one document, one detail, could derail something they’d worked towards for months or years.
So I looked deeper into the world of certified translations, and what I found genuinely bothered me.
Too many companies were charging prices they would never dare charge their corporate clients. Per-page pricing that made no sense for documents of different sizes and length, never taking into account the actual volume to translate, and hiding 250-word limits which clients were bound to miss. Hidden thresholds, surprise extras, and inflated quotes, all because the customer had to get it done, and didn’t feel like they had a choice.
That’s why I started Certling. We make certified translations fair, clear and simple: transparent per-word pricing, instant document analysis, the ability to remove content that doesn’t need translating, and a format that’s easy for officials and admissions teams to review.
