When do you need a certified translation when dealing with RMV?

If any documents are not in English, the RMV will need them to come with an English translation certified by one of the following:

- A Language Service Provider - A bilingual teacher from an accredited Massachusetts college, university, or private language school - A bilingual notary public - The local consulate for the document’s country of origin (Note: Not all consulates provide translation services, so ensure with the consulate beforehand) - The American Translators Association - Community-based organization - U.S. Government agency (state or federal) - Massachusetts municipal agency - Non-profit organization

Both the translation and certification should be on the certifying entity's letterhead. A sample translation certification is available in the Additional resources section.

What should a certified translation for RMV include:

- Translator’s name (printed) - Date - Translator’s full address - Translator’s telephone number or email address - Translator’s signature - A statement of the translator's qualifications - A statement affirming the completeness and accuracy of the document - Identification of the translated document and language

Certling's certified translations meet all these requirements and exceed them.
